CPCS – Ride on Roller (A31)
The Sheffield College is proud to have partnered with Van-Elle Ltd to deliver first-class construction services training courses for businesses and individuals.
Course Outline
This course is for people who need the skills and knowledge to operate a ride-on road roller.
During this course, you will gain knowledge and understanding of:
- Being aware of on-site hazards
- Setting up the roller for travel
- All pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures
- Recognising compacted areas and those that aren’t compacted
- Placing the roller in an out of service condition
- Setting the roller for compaction duties
- Procedures for loading and unloading on/off a transporter
- The safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges
- The conditions that may cause instability of the roller
From the completion of this course, you will receive a CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card) and a CITB National Construction College certificate.

Learning will take place over 4 days.
