Course Outline
The Abrasive wheel BAF accredited ensures all staff have the information and training required to be aware of current health and safety requirements and legislation to prevent workplace injuries, promote safer working practices and improve workplace culture when working with Abrasive Wheel and associated apparatus.
The objective of this course is to provide staff with sufficient knowledge to use and maintain abrasive wheel equipment safely. This course will cover:
- PPE
- Abrasive Wheels hazards and risk control measures
- An overview of health and safety legislation and inspection.
- How to correctly use, set up, adjust and inspect flanges, guards and accessories
- Resin and vitrified bonded abrasive wheel selection, marking & identification
- How to mount abrasive wheels on various equipment including a hand angle grinder, saws and bench grinders
- The different types of abrasive wheel machines and how to use them safely
- Pre-use machine safety checks
- Bench grinder familiarisation
- How to set up an abrasive wheel to a grinder safely
- Practical safe set up (no live cutting or grinding)
From the completion of this course, learners will be issued with a BAF accredited certificate which is valid for 3 years.
