Course Outline
This course will teach you how to operate a dozer safely and productively.
Completing this course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of:
- Being able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and have the ability to explain their functions
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, your responsibilities as an operator and the dangers of working in the industry
- How to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conducting all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and the legislative requirements
- Working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area
- How to prepare the dozer for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Identifying and maintaining PPE for appropriate dozer use
- Environmental considerations
- The storage and transport of implements and attachments
- How to attach and set trailed, mounted attachments ready for work
- How to carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
- How to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
On successful completion, you will be awarded a competent operator card which will be valid for 5 years from the date of application. A CPD record/operator logbook will also be issued.
