Course Outline
This course is for those who will have responsibility for manoeuvring excavation plant and ensuring excavation and service safety.
Completing this course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of:
- Basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and your responsibilities as an Excavation Marshall – Banksperson
- The equipment to be used and be conversant with method statements, risk assessments and permits to work
- Agreeing communication signals and emergency procedures
- How to conduct all pre-excavating checks
- Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for use
- How to define and identify the different types of underground services
- Safe positioning of Excavation Marshall – Banksperson
- How to conduct all necessary safety checks in the work area
- Carrying out exploratory tasks
- Identifying risks that excavations can present and how people may be affected
- Carrying out all end of shift and safe storage procedures
- Identifying the risks of excavating near underground services, and how to adopt safe digging practices
From completing this course you will be awarded an NPORS traditional card.
