Course Outline
This course is for people who require a formal qualification for operating a forward tipping dumper.
This course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of:
- Having a basic understanding of the industry, your responsibilities as an operator and the dangers of working in the industry
- Having a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Being able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and be able to explain their functions
- Being able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conducting all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and their legislative requirements
- Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for forward tipping dumper use
- Preparing the forward tipping dumper for use, operating it safely and efficiently
- Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Attaching and setting trailers, ensuring they are ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- The storage and transport of implements and attachments
- Carrying out all end of shift and shut down procedures
For entrants that wish to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there is no requirement to do an NVQ qualification. If the CSCS Tested Logo is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years. AN NVQ must be completed within the next 2 years.
