Course Outline
This course is for people who require the knowledge and skills to work effectively and safely when using a harness or fall arrest equipment.
This course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of:
- Having a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and the responsibilities
- Having a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular harness/fall arrest equipment and be able to explain their functions
- Being able to locate and identify major components of the harness/fall arrest equipment and explain their functions
- Conducting all safety checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s and their legislative requirements
- Selecting all suitable types of harness/fall arrest equipment relative to the work being undertaken
- Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for using harness/fall arrest equipment and being able to demonstrate the correct use
- Correctly fitting and removing the safety harness/fall arrest equipment
- Carrying out end of work inspections
- Environmental considerations
- Storing harness/fall arrest equipment
If you want to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there are no requirements to do an NVQ qualification. If the CSCS Tested Logo is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB operatives, Health, Safety and Environment test within the two years prior to application for the card.
