NRSWA – Operative – New Roads and Street Works

The Sheffield College is proud to have partnered with Van-Elle Ltd to deliver first-class construction services training courses for businesses and individuals.

Course Outline

This 5-day course provides Operatives with the skills and knowledge to perform operative duties in line with the current New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Act to safeguard themselves and others.

 

Course Content:

  • 001 – Location of underground apparatus
  • 002 – Signing, lighting and guarding
  • 003 – Excavation in the highway
  • 004 – Reinstatement of compaction and backfill materials
  • 005 – Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials
  • 006 – Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials
  • 007 – Reinstatement of hot lay bituminous materials
  • 009 – Reinstatement of modular surfaces

 

Candidates will be able to:

  • Summarise the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act
  • Select appropriate PPE to carry out street works activities
  • Provide a safe working environment for themselves and others
  • Perform the duties of each unit in line with legislation

 

On successful completion of this course, you will receive certification from SQA and will be entered on the Street Works Qualification Register gaining a street works card valid for 5 years.
